Would you go to a double bill Weezer/The Flaming Lips? Does it sound like fun? Sure it does! ‘I asked Wayne if he has an extra bubble I could ride in’ dared to say Weezer's Rivers Cuomo. I may have just seen the Flaming Lips twice, but I would pay again to see that!
The Lips have actually added a few new summer shows, and there is a confirmation of two NY area co-headline shows with Weezer, on July 28th at PNC Bank Arts Center, and on July 29th, at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater.
This will be the first time both bands actually play together and trade off songs.
Let’s imagine which songs they could actually trade….. Weezer should avoid the Yoshimi stuff, it’s too hipsters-who-have-just-heard the most-popular-album for them. I’d propose ‘The Yeah Yeah Yeah song’, and of course ‘She don’t use Jelly’, and The Flaming Lips should do ‘My Name is Jonah’ and ‘Hash Pipe’, but anything from the Green album could be great.
