Ahhh, yes, May 2013. The winter wouldn’t end and the concerts wouldn’t end. we were younger back in May, we still believed Daft unk weren’t snotty nosed self-important jerks and we still believed a 5 star review in Rolling stone actually meant something.
But that was then and this is now and with the wisdom that only time can provide, let’s take another look at the some of this years bigger albums one mo’ gin.
Random Memory Access – Daft Punk – For all of this duo’s loud mouthing off, this is a depressingly mediocre form of EDM saved by three great songs from the rubbish bin – B
Modern Vampires Of The City – Maybe half of this is really good and of that half three songs are awesome and the rest kinda sits there like patience on a monument – B+
The Beach Boys 50th Anniversary Live – absolutely useless product on every conceivable level except making Mike Love richer – C-
My True Story – Aaron Neville – brain achingly pointless covers – C
The Messiah – Sizzla – If you can pay attention, you will find a lot to enjoy. But such generic reggae… who can pay attention? – B
Empty Waste – wild Nothing – Yeah, “The Body in rainfall” is a great song. The rest of it is wallpaper – C+
Excuse My French – French Monata – One great song, one good song, an eleven tracks of filler – C-
