There’s this artist named Watsky who is an absolute poet. He’s really just some kid, but has intense talent.
The song “Ten Fingers” blew me away. His rapping skills are better than most, and his speech impediment furthers how intrigued I am by his vocals. He has a lot of talent, especially lyrically. The concept of the song being the game “Never Have I Ever”, which is common amongst teens, provides an interesting visual element for the video.
“Never have I ever swallowed all my foolish pride” is one of the many clever and beautiful lines that gets mixed in with the “never have I ever crashed on a bike, or been trapped on an island and had to survive.” He has a way with words, and can incorporate many ideas into one capsule. The beat behind is voice is also great, and perfectly fits in with his vocal inflection.
“And I can’t really tell if I’m a good person or I’m faking really well” is also a line that stood out. The way he speaks is more than just poetry, or rap. It’s something human, that is so simple to connect with, and that’s something that’s usually missed with this genre today.
I am absolutely in love with this song. It’s unique and catchy, and the use of the Daft Punk backing beat is fantastic. His voice is almost cute, but the lyrics give it an edge. As for the video, it’s not super elaborate, but it’s certainly not boring. It aids the story and once again proves Watsky’s genius.
“Ten Fingers” is one of the coolest tunes I’ve listened to- never have I ever heard anything like it.
