United Ghosts, a band that I had the opportunity to see at the Satellite last year, has just released a video for their new song ‘Unhypnotized’, which premiered on Amoeba Music Blog last Friday.
The video oscillates between darkness and light, mystery and reality, whereas the dream-pop dark song balances between Sha Sabi and Axel Steuerwald’s vocals, and offers tenebrous riffs, which could just fit between those of the Los Angeles indie band Great Northern and famous group Interpol.
In the video, it looks like the members of United Ghosts are using their magic musical power to un-hypnotized a group of weird people in the basement of a warehouse, as everyone suddenly open their eyes, drop their brainwashed cult faces and start dancing to the band’s shoegazing eerie sound,… which just gets a bit more optimistic toward the end.
United Ghosts will be playing a release party for the video at the Bootleg theater on Wednesday 17, and the song is the lead single from their upcoming debut full-length album. You can even download it for a limited time on Soundcloud:
