This post is gonna be a little special, it concerns a band I have seen a few times but at the same time, it’s a sort of self-promotion! Sort of… United Ghosts just let me know that their new video for ‘Sparks from a Cold Star’ was ready to be watched on YouTube in the US. And I feel so honored because I participated in the making of the video!!! I filmed them during one of their night residency at the Silver Lake Lounge, and they asked me to use some footage. And I said yes of course.

The awesome video premiered on the UK site Muzu.tv last week and got so many views in the first few days (more than 50,000 views!) that their head (and mine) is spinning. It was also reposted on Fortitude Magazine and they are saying great things about the song, and the video! But I have absolutely nothing to do with this success, I just hold the camera in front of them playing and bassist/co-vocalist Sha Sabi made this savant collage as she explained on Muzu TV:

‘As a separate project I had edited together live footage from various shows that we had done in different cities, such as L.A., London, Las Vegas… and when pairing that with the aerial stunt footage it just sort of made sense and captured some of the vibe and excitement of our live shows at the same time’.

Yes, you can also see old footage of aerial stunts in between the grainy live show footage, ‘These pioneers going up into the air seemed a bit like an early form of space travel, living on the edge and a bit vulnerable in a way… somehow indirectly paralleling the idea of ‘sparks from a cold star’’, declared Sha.

As a Silver Lake band, United Ghosts are getting big across the pond and elsewhere, as they are soon heading on a Europe/UK/NY tour in support of their album available on iTunes. So catch them on tour and watch their new video, it stays simple but artsy and the look goes very well with their trippy soundscape sweeping the air and your senses.
