Ty Segall, garage-rock-60s-vibe revivalist, is about to release his sixth album ‘Twins’ on October 9 via Drag City Records, and we can already watch a weird video for his song entitled ‘The Hill’. I said weird because the look is so fuzzy, so bad quality, so security surveillance tape (he made it with clips from vintage VHS tapes) that I can’t say I really enjoyed watching it.
The band is dressed in furry and feathery animal costumes – a recurrent theme these days – and some red-wigged-bulgy-eyed iguana also made an apparition,… such a strange visual, it almost has the same vibe than movies showing people lost in a forest cabin and watching old K7 of paranormal phenomenon… but I am watching too many horror movies!
However, the music is nothing but horrific with its Jenny-Lewis-country-vibe start (it is actually Thee Oh Sees’ Brigid Dawson) before the furry and fuzziness of the guitars and a psychedelic retro adventure. I guess the live version will be done without the eagle suit, but will probably include more stage diving.
