Watch Deer Park Avenue's Debut Video For 'Hey Maria'
I saw the Sacramento duo Deer Park Avenue at the Whiskey a Go Go, on the Sunset Strip about 9 months ago, and these girls truly kicked ass with their power pop songs performed like punk rock anthems.
They just sent me the link of their first official music video for their song ‘Hey Maria', directed by Emmy-nominated director Rajan Patel.
After watching it a couple of times, I can tell that the video is as fun as the song is upbeat! Over a catchy chorus and driving guitars, we follow a high-school mini-story involving the two sisters Sarah (on guitar and vocals), Stephanie Snyder (on drums and backing vocals), and a love story viewed by 3 persons, the girlfriend, her disapproving sister and the boyfriend. It’s cute and well crafted, a little Grease, a little modern Shakespearian drama, and the song is said to be a response to Blondie’s own ‘Maria’, so what else to add?
‘Hey Maria’ is a song off Deer Park Avenue’s 2011 album ‘Stop & Go’.
