Cat Power definitively feels better! Isn't it a good sign when when you can make fun of yourself? She just did a 'Funny Or Die' video, and the result is hilarious and super awkward at the same time.
In the video, she is invited to sing in front of a kindergarten class for ‘music time’, and she ends up playing a caricature of herself, asking the wide-eyed kids not to do their little hand-dance during the ‘Itsy Bitsy Spider’ song, and not to sing along during ‘Old MacDonald’. The whole time she is acting like an emo diva, telling the kids in an affected manner, to ‘always respect the performer’, schooling the borderline-panicking teacher with, ‘You can't rush art’.
Then she starts ranting about cow stomachs, wanders into emotional detours, and loses the notion of time as she usually does! She even asks her young public to turn around,… ‘This lady makes me sad’, says a little girl before seeing Chan literally having one of her infamous melt downs at the end of her almost inexistent performance.
Despite her recent health problems and a bankruptcy that forced her to cancel tour dates, it’s good to see that Cat Power is in such a good spirit and able to make fun of herself.
But yes kids, life is hard and it gets worse and worse, so get used to it!
