Four months ago, the Silver Lake Chorus released their Christmas-in-August song, ‘From the Snow Tipped Hills’, an original song written by Bon Iver especially for the 25-piece vocal group, and in September, they self-released an EP, ‘Wreckage’, which also included an original track written for the chorus by the New Pornographers’ A.C. Newman.
In addition, they have an album coming up, which will feature original songs written exclusively for the chorus by many other artists such as Of Montreal, Aimee Mann, Sia, Tegan and Sara, the Bird and the Bee, and others. And the Silver Lake Chorus just sent us a behind-the-scenes video about the making of ‘Hold Up For’, the Tegan and Sara’s song.
It shows them rehearsing in a church, the perfect place to fit the acoustic of a choral group. This is a vibrant and happy band, and although we don’t get to hear much of the song, the full and warm vocal harmonies, just tickled by these Glockenspiel-sounding bells, give an idea of what we can expect. If you like the Polyphonic Spree, you will love the Silver Lake Chorus’ symphonic harmonies!
They will be posting similar behind-the-scenes videos as their forthcoming album progresses, but before this you, can check out their ‘Wreckage’ EP on Amazon or iTunes.
