There is such mystery surrounding Vampire Weekend’s upcoming album! The band has posted some weird acronyms on their website and Tumblr on Friday afternoon, and nobody knows exactly what it means.
The full message actually reads as the following:
VW
MVOTC
LPIII
MMXIII
XL
It’s easy to figure out four lines out five: VW: Vampire Weekend, LPIII and MMXIII: 3rd album released in 2013, XL: on XL recordings, sure, but MVOTC? It is supposedly the title of the album, but what the hell could this mean?
A few suggestions are floating around, MV could stand for Martha’s Vineyard where the album was recorded, and Spin magazine has a few super silly suggestions beside ‘Martha's Vineyard On The Cape’, such as ‘More Viagra Over The Counter’, or ‘My Valentine Ordered Takeout Chinese’… but honestly at this point, everything goes! Could it be something like ‘My Vuitton Orange Turtleneck Crew’? The best one I have found on Twitter. I have no clues and I guess we will have to wait until May 7th to know the solution.
update: Vampire Weekend have announced that the name of their upcoming album will be 'Modern Vampires Of The City'!… They actually placed the album title in the classified section of the NY Times and tweeted NYT classifieds!
