There is a Terrence Malick’s movie in preparation, and nobody knows much about it, except that the secretive director has hired a lot of famous young actors – Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchet, Rooney Mara – and that Malick has been filming Christian Bale at various concerts (Coldplay and Bright Eyes!) during the Austin City Limits festival in September. So the movie has probably something to do with music, but another clue was brought to the puzzle last Friday, when the crew was seen filming Val Kilmer doing some damage at a Black Lips’ concert at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin!
Kilmer, who is also part of the cast, erupted on stage during the Black Lips' already chaotic set, and according to Rolling Stone, he was seen ‘wielding a prop chainsaw to destroy a guitar amplifier and then using a bowie knife to cut off clumps of his own hair’! You can watch him below trying to smash a guitar.
Still according to Rolling Stone, Kilmer is apparently playing a has-been rocker and was yelling at the band, telling them to stop playing, insisting they should play ‘his’ song. Then he shouted to the crowd stuff like : ‘If you are all good I’ll cut my hair on stage’….’ Did they tell you we’re making a movie? We’re not. We’re practicing making a movie’, before chanting sentences like ‘Autograph the epitaph!’…‘Rock and roll is dead! Long live rock and roll!’… ‘Do you wanna hear some Doors songs? Well, you’re 20 years too late. No Doors here. We have some windows . . . got some garage. But we’ve got no Doors.’
This is hilarious! Kilmer looks totally insane, he had black nail polish, introduced Rooney Mara as Miley Cyrus at one point and even used a walker on stage! This movie sounds like a lot of fun, and a thousand miles away from Malick’s previous film’ ‘The Tree of Life’.
