An 80s band who had a weird pre techno, techno sound. Sorta bleak sorta pop sorta oh I guess sorta Roxy Musicish or maybe solo Bryan Ferry.. not sure but yo ho ho guess what

“Dancing with Tears in My Eyes” is a song that I adore with a dated techno twitter with lyrics I feel deeply even now. Sap.
But Midge Ure lead singer and leadER of Ultravox has such desperation in his voice that you cant help but feel it even if you’ve never lived with a memory of a love thats died. From the appropriately titled lp Lament, released twenty six years ago. Yet as contagious as swine flu.. seriously want to feel like shit? Give it a go, guaranteed melancholy and dont let that dance beat fool you is there such thing as techno emo? cuz this is it.
Another song with lyrics that make ya go ‘huh’? is “Vienna” but its sexy and dark and moody……and technoish…
disturbing and somewhat pretentious but the thump is so freaking hypnotic. No clue what hes on about but the lyrics are presented like you should ‘get it’.. but I don’t.

Oh I love Ultravox. They make me happy in a depressing way……
and in keeping true to the way they make me feel…this amazing announcement of the 2010 ORIGINAL line up tour..
