The Rocket Summer released a new tune, with a video of live footage. Titled "Run And Don't Stop", I was eager to listen to it.
I noticed that Bryce's voice hadn't changed a bit. Nor did his sound. Or anything, really.
I mean, I love The Rocket Summer, and everything about their sound. However, I had really high expectations for the new album. I wanted something new- be it a change in his voice, a new addition to the band, anything. I felt like I was shot all the way back to the first time I listened to TRS; their music hasn't changed at all. This disappointed me at first because I was desperate for something new from them. I ended up realizing that it's a good thing that they didn't drastically alter themselves. Listening to The Rocket Summer is a familiarity I'm not really ready to lose. If they'd changed a lot, and went and tailored their genre, I probably wouldn't have even bothered listening because of the modifications. It feels like a hug, the similarities. It's almost saying that if everything in your life is changing, one thing never will.
I'm really pleased with the tune, I think it's really worth a listen.
