My ex text me the other day to tell me her new guy’s favorite color is now blue because she looks so good in blue. Very nice, right? Well, it got her to thinking of why there were so many songs with the color blue in their title. One reason might be because it is the only color that has a style of music named after it. Also, along with green (for envy) it is the only color to signify an emotion.
My ex is a big Bright Eyes fan so when she started her list I knew she wasn’t referring to Madonna. let me startwih her choices and add an occasional comment of my own.
True Blue – Bright Eyes (bluer and truer than you can believe)
Blue Lips – Regina Spektor
Tangled Up In Blue -Bob Dylan
Blur Orchid – White Stripes
Blue Turns To Grey – the Rolling Stones (this is the glimmer twins at their best: as greatly estimated as they are as songwriters, they are still a little lost in their hits)
It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue – Van Morrison (yeah, i know, but I love Morrison’s cover)
Folsom Prison Blues – Johnny Cash
Joset Of Naratheth Bues – Titus Andronicus (New Jersey’s finest)
Here are some of my true blues:
Pinky Blue – Altered Images (I still have a crush on Clare Grogan)
Color Of The Blues – George Jones (if you can buy just one song…)
True Blue – Madonna
Rhapsody In Blue – George Gershwin (his greatest moment)
For You Blue – the Beatles
Yer Blues – the Beatles
Don’t It Turn My Brown Eyes Blue -Crystal Gayle (country Music Part IV in one song)
Blue Bayou – Roy Orbinson
Blue Hawaii – Elvis Presley
Song Sung Blue – Neil Diamond (it’s true: anybody can sing this song, try)
Blue Monday – Billie Holiday
Blue Christmas – Elvis Presley
From Robert Nevin
Carribean Blue – Enya
Can a Blue Man Sing the Whites? – Bonzo Dog DooDah Band
More from me
Sixteen Blue – The Replacements
Why Be Blue? – Carlene Carter
I am sure there are hundreds more… If you can thing of any please add to comments and I will add em to the blog….
