Transit is making a big splash in the alt world right now. Patrick Stump is showing up everywhere. So, how nice it was to find both in one place.
The song "All Your Heart" has a hollow almost garage-like quality to it. Lead singer Joe Boynton, has an speak/sing tone that certainly is distinct.
Transits genre is classified as Indie/Post-Hardcore/Pop-Punk, which pretty much means nothing. Transit is a great independant rock band with diversity and distinction. The label of "Post Hardcore", will kill them. Someone clean that off their Facebook right this instant. The band hails from the mighty Northeast town of Stoneham, MA. If anyone is familiar with Massachussets you know their hardcore scene is insanely brutal- these boys need to stay away from The Four Year Stronger-ers. Simple as that. Bring Patrick Stump along to sing with you and even I'm going to run before I get punched in the head for watching. Again "Post Hardcore"…no.
Back to the song- "All Your Heart" is a rock song with pizzaz. Not the best Transit has done but we can blame Stump for mucking it up on them. The band has some great songs including "Take What you Can" and "1978. The below video from their upcoming release "Listen and Forgive" shows unique perspective and prospect of a great release.
"Listen and Forgive" is due out on October 4th. Mary Magpie and I will be speaking with Transit on October 8th in Boston, home turf when they open for Bayside. Sweet! Til then.. listen.
