Touche' Amore' "Harbors", Video Review

That’s Amore’

There was a time I thought Touche’ Amore’ would be the next big thing in their little genre.  That whole “post hardcore” catchall was weak at the time and TA came in like gangbusters and there was every indication they would own it.

They didnt.
They wont.

See the problem with ‘post hardcore’ is that it means absolutely nothing.  Unlike metal, or punk, or hardrock or hardcore its a bucket of  ‘wtf’,  if you dont fit in a real catagory- youre post hardcore.  So there Touche’ sits like a big gob surrounded by other non descript masses yearning for attention.  But they dont suck they will just never survive.

Their new album “Is Survived By” is out now and it’s quite good.  Lyrically one of the best I have heard.  Deep brooding man cries of the manic depressive set.  Jeremy Bolm is fabulous in sharing his tales of angst and woe and he doesnt even have to shell out a co-pay. They must grab inspiration from Suicidal Tendencies.  “Mike Mike! All I wanted was a Pepsi”.  Just kidding but the vocals are so similar it’s eery.

I really like this band but like a stubborn teenager who is too busy being cool to be smart they will snuff themselves out.  Their latest video for harbor is a great example of a school project grade C.  It’s good- it suits the topic but c’mon their could have been just a bit more effort.  The band has been around for over five years now.. c’mon havent you met some arty types to help you out yet?

You’ve heard the song a thousand times before. You’ve seen the low budget school auditorium stage with backdrop film a zillion times.  Touche’ Amore’ needs to turn up the effort knob or forever be just another ‘post hardcore’ band.  C’mon kids, I’m rootin’ for ya.
