I saw TLC at MSG on their Fanmail tour back in 2000, a pretty hi-tech adventure for the time with the three piece and Dallas Austin back, it was to be their last hurrah for the hugely successful r&b trio.
The show, like the album of the same name, lost momentum half way thru but it was still a very, very big modern show that could set out tonight and no questions asked.
IT was also the end of TLC.Two years later Left Eye (Lisa Lopes) died in a car accident. She was 30 years old.
And now, ten years after Lisa's tragic death, the world of Holograms is theatening to bring TLC back together again. Making live music death music, if you will.
And while I absolutely agree that the likes of Britney Spears has buried the hatchet in the back of any concept of live music, it is ridiculous and in astounding bad taste to drag poor Lisa out of her grave to suing for her supper.
What are her fellow singers thinking of? TLC obviously couldn't continue without their centerpiece but today maybe they could get a singer, or a series of guest vocalists, to perform her parts. And that's one thing. But using a spectral vision? has everybody lost their fucking minds?
Bizarre, stupid, and disrectful, let's kill this idea right now.
