On May 3rd, Junip’s José González will be playing both solo and together with the amazing Touareg band Tinariwen, during a special and unique performance at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London.
What we should exactly expect from this collaboration remains to be seen, but the email I have received announces there will be a full set from both José and Tinariwen as well as a collaborative effort. It should be simply amazing, a fusion between the cold from Sweden and the heat from the Sahara-Malian desert, although José González’s family is actually from Argentina and his music has always cultivated a unique hybrid form of hypnotic krautrock and Afrobeat.
So José may be the perfect guy to perform with the blues-of-the-desert band, which already mixes traditional robes and instruments with electric guitars. When both of them are gonna blend their trance-inducing grooves, it will be the ultimate cosmopolite musical experience
