Last week there was a fanclub only pre-sale for Barbra Streisand's "Back To Brooklyn" October Concert at Barclay's Center.
Nobody got any.
The instant sell off left fans reeling. It is also left them going on "secondary ticket sales" websites to fine thousands of ducats available. Front row center going for a ridiculous $54,000,
While management at Barclay's released a pathetic "We wish every friend that could get tickets, did get tickets", Ticketmaster knew what happened, though they spoke truth when they said Ticket Brokers offered tickets and after they had the offer in hand found somebody willing to sell them, that isn't all of it by any means.. And while Barbra's website claimed she was looking into it, if Springsteen couldn't fix it, how can she
The truth is, this isn't armies of employees going on line and clogging the systems, this is Ticketmaster's website being hacked by hi-tech pirates. The tickets are gone in seconds and the average fan never comes close to buying them.
rock nyc wonders, if these tickets were being stolen and Ticketmaster were not being paid, do you think TM would be so indolent and lazy about the problem? Where is the police? Why are they not shutting down TM until they fix the software? This is theft, shouldn't there be somebody held responsible?
Also, what gives with the Police? It is hardly difficult to buy a high end, or 50 high end, tickets for a major show off stub hub and find out how they got their hands on them. This is the same bullshit that is occurring with Village Voices "Backpages". If underage and slave prostitutes are using backpages.com, why don't they use backpages.com to sting them? What is the complication? At the very least, it is a fair way to run backpages out of biz if they are pimps.
Instead, Barbra fans are being hosed, underage hookers are infesting Manhattan (harhar) and some more on Barclay's Center should be fired.
