Look at it this way: the Universe has been around for 10 million years and will be over in around 10 millions, so the US annexing Texas and the subsequent American- Mexican War in the 1840s was barely am eye blink away. And the result was devastating for Mexico.
All these years later, Mexico deserves to have an open boarder with the US. It is because of the US its people have to work at jobs American citizens would rather live on welfare then do themselves..
And as President Obama deports 5 times more undocumented aliens than W. Bush ever did, it is not such a hot time for Mexican citizens in the US.
But oddly, as Mayor Bloomberg noted, we have never needed menial Labor more. Labour "beneath you and I" more. We need South Americans to rebuild our inner cities. Places where white man fears to tread.
It is with all this surrounding them, that Outernationals bring their firebrand form of rock and roll tonight to Dominion at 428 Lafayette. They ht the stage at 10pm for the grand tour finale. I dunno about Rotten Apple… with the exception of San Francisco, there is no city more welcoming to Undocumented Aliens then nyc. That notwithstanding, as reasons to rock go, Outernationals have a good one, and they have the political purity to cut through the bullshit, if you have read Alyson Camus' interview with them a week or so ago you'll see what I mean.
I am not particulalrly liberal at all, but I know where my self interest lies, and some form of open immigration between Mexico and the US makes sense for everyone. Not only is it the moral thing to do but,
1. Jobs that must be done but aren't done will be filled
2. Billions wasted in a morphous boarder will be saved.
3. And for fucks sake you can tax them.
