Damn right I'll be at the Beacon Theater to see the Monkees on December 2nd, 2012 (a Sunday, the bastards) but I am furious at Mike Nesmith. It is absolutely outrageous that it would take Davy Jones death for Nesmith to agree to reunite with the band. If he had agreed to it last year we could have seen all four, now, because of his, apparently irrelevant, intrangency, we again have only two thirds of the Monkees.
It is one thing to stand on principle, something else to stand on complete lack of principle. At the time of Davy's death, Nesmith claimed it was Davy and three sidemen. That isn't exactly true, but still losing Davy was to lose the Monkees. And that's true.
I am looking forward to seeing how the Monkees are gonna handle Jones songs. They certain;y can't dump em. I hope it isn't gonna be a hologram. In 2006: "I would not work with those guys again if my life depended on it. I can't be responsible for their attitudes and the way they treat people." , he changed his mind of course (but so did Brian wilson -and he had better reason to be pissed) and now Davy is dead…
As for Nesmith, well done, chump, you singlehandedly ruined what would have been the 45th Anniversary Concert and why? To have sentimentality bring you back to the band.
