Theyre Trying To Demolish A Dream: The Worcester Palladium

I have been to tons of clubs.  I have dealt with hundreds of staffers.  There are only 2 clubs that consistently impress me.  One of them is in peril of demolition- The Worcester Palladium.

This filthy gritty sticky venue has hosted so much magic I cant even begin to list it.  The crowd is consistently fabulous and the staff- they're awesome, yup awesome.

I learned of this potential catastrophe through beardcore dudes Four Year Strong's plea:

The Palladium in Worcester, MA is one of the greatest venues in the country. it is where i saw my first shows ever. that venue helped me become who i am today. the owners of the venue are thinking of demolishing the building to make a parking lot. PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION TO HELP SAVE IT! if you’ve ever been to a show here, or played a show here, then i know that you would be just as heartbroken and devastated as me if the venue got demolished. it was a home for me as a kid, as a teenager, and even still as an adult. i have so many amazing memories in that place. i can not imagine it not being there anymore. PLEASE PLEASE HELP!

Rock clubs are so sterile, relics like this are so punk rock that the walls reek of sweat.  Taken from Worcester Mag:
“Word spread to the Worcester Mag office pretty quickly on Tuesday that the owners of the Palladium were filing – or at least threatening to file – paperwork for the demolition of the music hot spot and regional Juggalo headquarters in order to create more parking for the courthouse across the street. Worcester attorney and Palladium owner John Fischer, when asked to comment on the rumors, said he hadn’t made a decision yet but added, “It has a lot to do with taxes.” Like a number of the city’s commercial property owners, the Palladium has seen a huge spike in its fiscal year 2012 assessment and subsequent tax bill, jumping from an assessed value of $689,000 in 2011 to $2.27 million this year. “We’re still debating what we’re going to do,” Fischer lamented. “We’ll know by August 1.””

I suggest we form a human chain around this place.  A parking lot? Are you kidding me isn't there a huge ass one across the street let alone behind the club?  Who the hell needs that much parking when the town has a Subway and A Dunkin Donuts 2 blocks down and not much else?  We need this building to remain standing.  We need to fall down those steps to walk up to the massive stage.  We need those security guards to push us of the ledges and throw the freaks out the side doors. WE NEED THE SITE LINE OF THE SOUND BOARD AREA!!

OK maybe you're in another country or the other side of the world.. if you love real rock and roll and not the stripped down bleached out bullshit you are served PLEASE sign this petition…
