Gossip: No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani and Bush’s lead singer Gavin Rossdale have called it a marriage and filed for divorce in Los Angeles. They’ve been together for 20 years and married 13 of them, they have three sons Kingston Rossdale, 9, Zuma Rossdale, 6, and Apollo Rossdale, 17 months. Apparently Gwen will be providing spousal support and they will be sharing custody. That’s a real shame.
Planned Parenthood: the selling of fetal organs is macabre in the extreme, the secret filmed business transaction is a body blow to the service, but they are not selling them to Hannibal Lecter so he can enjoy a liver with a nice chianti. I think the closest I can get to it is listening to a a forensic pathologist discuss a cadaver. Nasty but it is the lingo.
Live: That was an interesting evening, SummerStage’s In Concert performance ended early at 9pm and Laura Marling at Town Hall started late at 930pm so I managed to make both shows!
News: Happy Birthday Louis Armstrong, the greatest of them all, and Barack Obama, for whom the jury is still out.
Recorded: The eagerly awaited Iris Dement album will be dropping on Friday. it is The Trackless Woods, with Dement adding music to the words of the Russian poet Anna Akhmatova, who was born in 1889 and died in 1966. I’ve only heard one song, the one on NPR, but it is a humdinger, “Listening To SInging”, however how close it is the poet, since not only does it have to be translated from Russian, it also has to be made into a song, I have no clear answer at all! Personally, I think it is great but check it out yourself.
