Just yesterday I had dubbed the Scissor Sister’s new single “Invisble Light” not up to standard. Not bad, mind. But not all that.
But I kept on going back to it and I’ll tell you why. That drum pattern at the sort is just fabulous (somebody is just gonna remove it and make a great remix -and I wish they’d hurry).
What bothers me is what bothers me with so much disco-rock hybrid (and, if only aesthetically, that’s where Scissor Sister makes their money) is a type of extended foreplay which never reaches any form of climax. Instead, and it is not a bad trade off, you get a sexually tinged soliloquy by one Sir. Ian McKellen.
The end is a fade out with the chick back up singer.
Does it work? Yeah, it does.
