Ok everyone pony up $11.99 plus tax go to iTunes and buy The Wombats new release. Just shut up and do it. I don't often demand things of readers but this I must do. I haven't heard an LP that had such a great sound start to finish in a really long time.
The Wombats are pure dance in your underwear around the room singing in to a hairbrush sort of band. Wait. You don't do that? Well then its most likely because you haven't heard "This Modern Glitch". I have covered the sing "Anti D" and "Techno Fan" and hunted down their tour (it sucks, theres like three stops. What the hell?)
"Last Night I Dreamt", is reminiscent of old XTC or maybe Vapors, its keyboardy and 80s in feel with some gorgeous lyrics. This is a shout along song if ever there was one. "1996" is pretty 80s as well. I don't suppose that makes much sense but its a great year none the less (thats the year of the Magpies birth.. just sayin') its slower but still rings out with fun.
"Walking Disaster' brings in the self loathing The Wombats are famous for, staying true to their origins they haven't strayed much from the tales of boys and girls and marsupials, for that I am very grateful. Great one liners everywhere "I will be your Freudian Slip", perfect. "Schumacher the Champagne" is legend.
This is simply a strong upbeat danceable Brit pop album. We don't get enough of these. No yelling, no preaching, no deep method or 'concept', fun music for fun people. Be one.
