The White Wives have a new release due out June 28 and it has the coolest album art I've seen in awhile. Yup that's it right there and ya gotta admit its bad ass.
I was turned on to "Adeline Records' by none other than Jason Pettigrew of Alternative Press. So now I get nifty newsletters and ta da.. this interesting tidbit.
I can't really categorize this band nor would I want to. Theyre straight up rock and roll with a bit of an 80's feel but not enough to pull out the legwarmers. The song "Indian Summer, Indian Summer' has a great guitar riff and a pleasant vocal.
"I think our varying influences are what helps create the sound and aesthetic of White Wives," offers "2". "I grew up listening to a lot of music from the mid nineties: Nirvana, Pixies." Harvey, on the other hand, cites traditional literary songwriters: "Neil Young, Townes Van Zandt, Gram Parsons. Of course Dylan and Woody Guthrie."
Hailing from Pittsburgh PA, the Wives consist of members of ANTI-FLAG, Dandelion Snow, The Code, and American Armada. Sadly that's all I could come up with for biography for these guys. They will be touring with another of my faves Touche' Amour but of course, no where near me.
So you go see them live and tell me about it and those of you who aren't in their tour path, you can enjoy the streaming version here:
