The Vaccines are a band that I like but that I forget I like. They just dont seem to have the magic to hold my interest enough to love them. There is no flaw, no glaring issue that would prevent it, its just they havent gotten their hooks into me.
Sorta like this tune. It’s a great song. Fun, light and mindless but because I am busy reading the storyline I forget I’m listening. Although the story of a guy too shy to call upon a lady is timeless the odd cassette tape vs cellphone technology glitch is confusing and distracts a whole bunch. What the hell were they thinking? Granted, cassettes are still around but… but.. it doesnt give the hipster feel it actually gives more of a ‘whoops where the fact checker?’ vibe.
I wanted to love the song but instead I walked away with a cute story line in my head and absolutely no song in my head at all. The Vaccines are like candy, fabulous when theyre in your mouth and the premise of it is great but once its consumed its like it never even happened. Until youre reminded of the glory of sugar on some other day.
I dont think this band will ever make it huge in the States and I doubt they would care to. But for what it is worth it makes a nice little rush in the midst of a bland day, just dont expect too much and you will never be disappointed.
By the way the ending of this video is so weak I actually went back to see if I mised something. The Vaccines wont save you but they wont kill you either. They’ll just be there for whenever you remember they exist.
