I'm so used to writing about Festival failures that its amazing to me that I am writing about a success. Game Changers "Skate and Surf" Festival was to be held at the iPlay complex in Freehold New Jersey. Stoked! Indoor amusement park. I wont like the parking bit confused me. You had to park in a common lot and be shuttled to the venue- what? I am such an anti social fool that this one issue made me less than thrilled to go to the event. I don't want to sit near you, or your friends in a moving vehicle in a school bus or worse. I will throw up and then whip something at your head.
So hurray for me, the popularity of the event has caused it to move twelve miles west. Peter Valesi, the township administrator in Freehold Township New Jersey, told Greater Media Newspapers this week that “the concert promoters advised us that due to logistical reasons, they no longer intended to have the event at 110 Schanck Road, iPlay America. As such, preliminarily, I was informed the event may be moved to Great Adventure.”
According to the Skate and Surf Festival website, holding the festival at iPlay America would have required attendees to park at the East Freehold Park Showgrounds on Kozloski Road, Freehold Township, and take a shuttle bus to iPlay America. No drop-offs would have been permitted at iPlay America. With the festival’s move to Great Adventure, concert goers will be able to park in the theme park’s large parking lot.
So three cheers for Skate and Surf- or is it just three cheers for Fall Out Boy? FOB headline day one on May 18th,and yup I'll be there. A bonus for our troubles is the addition of Mayday Parade. Its as if its a joke- summer means one thing to me- Mayday Parade. I see them more than I see members of my family and have met them so many times that they nod in acknowledgement. Although we interviewed them twice, they have yet to make it big. Their the mashed potatoes to the tofu steak. Always a side dish, never the main course. Maybe this will get them more exposure? (though is that possible when they're ALWAYS around?)
I hate roller coasters, but i do love cotton candy. And with the opened up venue theres a new $79.00 admission cost for one day. Go figure cha ching. See ya there.
