The Rolling Stones To Play Warm-Ups In Small Theater In France On October 29th, And May Be Elsewhere

If you are like Iman, and you accept to spend a little fortune to see the Rolling Stones, think twice before buying a ticket. Right now, there are no dates on the West coast, but I would not spend that much to see them, because the Stones are playing huge arena places, of course! And, for $500, I would see Mick Jagger smaller than a fruit fly on a wall? No thank you, I am not interested.

But this may change! According to NME, the band has announced that they will play small clubs to warm up before the big ones in London’s O2 Arena and Newark’s Prudential Center, and one possible place would be Paris,… really? This is what guitarist Ronnie Wood declared to NME when talking about rehearsals:

‘We’re all making a concentrated effort of being there on time every day, we start at three o’clock in the afternoon, we go through to dinner time, we have one break and so far everything has been [like] an operation, nose to the grindstone. We wanna give 200 per cent.’

‘There’s going to be little club gigs that we’re gonna surprise ourselves to do as well, we’ll bung a few in next week or the week after, so look out for any Cockroaches gigs or whatever! I don’t know who we’ll be billed as but we’ll turn up somewhere and put a few to the test. Tiny, 200, 300 people kind of places.’

The Examiner is reporting that the only date already confirmed is the one organized by the Carmignac management society on October 29! This is what was printed on a famous French magazine, Le Point:

‘A few happy Parisians have received a mysterious invitation. On Monday October 29th, The Car company Carmignac is inviting the cream of the crop to an exceptional concert at the Mogador Theater. The invite card doesn’t mention the title of the spectacle or the object of the invitation, but only a tantalizing ‘the biggest secret event of the year’ title. No less! The musical ‘Sister Act’ which is currently playing on the stage of this theater of the Paris 9th district, does not justify such a frontispiece. The well-informed rumor suggests a Rolling Stones secret gig. Mick Jagger and his friends have unveiled the dates for four concerts in London and the US in November and December. This Parisian show case looks like a warm-up. Behind closed doors, since cell phones and cameras will have to stay at the checkroom. But the Stones are well worth a moment of contemplation …’

The theater has about a capacity of 1,600. The O2 arena? 20,000! The Prudential center? 18,700! But the show is by invitation only, so that has to make the die-hard-Stones fans very jealous right now… however, if you really want to go, you can, just click here, it’s a real deal!
