The Rolling Stones: The Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World," HBO Special

HBO again cashing in on a historic event.  Home Box Office is the full name of this channel, yet no one use s that anymore.  They were pioneers in great series with controversial subject matter and still come out with a good one now and then.

This October they will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones.  HBO programming president,   Michael Lombardo had this to say:  "This is all done as part of the band's 50th anniversary. This documentary has the full involvement of the four current band members, Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ron, as well as the former band members Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor.

"We'll follow the band from their early club days through their arrival as the greatest band in the world,"

Lot's of quotables in that one.  The Stones sure are throwing allot of confetti for themselves when all the 'people' really want is for their old geriatric asses to huff up to the stage for a last hurrah tour.

But for all its worth these guys have absolutely nothing left to prove.  Over 200 million albums sold worldwide, more tours than wrinkles and more fans than any.  Longevity?  These guys own it.  There is never an empty seat and they are watched by eager loyalists just as closely now as in their chipper younger days.  Fifty years at a job is a ridiculous accomplishment.  To sustain that in rock and roll is not only noteworthy but a miracle.  Insane.   The exact date of airing should be announced this month.  Stay tuned and pay your cable bill.
