The Robert Johnson at 100 Centennial Celebration

Elvis Costello has been added to the line up for the March 6th fundraising tribute to Bluesman Robert Johnson.

The infamous Apollo Theater in NYC will play host to scads of musical genius as it raises funds for The Blues Foundation and The Robert Johnson Foundation to provide funding for the building of The Blues Hall of Fame in Memphis.

Also on tap for this 'star studded EXtravaganza' are The Roots, Macy Gray, Chuck D, Living Colour, Shemekia Copeland, Bettye LaVette, Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Todd Rundgren, and many more including The Rev. Steven Johnson, grandson of Robert Johnson.

Anyone else find Costello an odd add on?

Director Joe Morton stated:  “Robert Johnson’s story is the fabric of myth, his music continues to weave its way, beyond the blues, into and through almost every other popular genre today. Our concert is a celebration of the man, the myth, and the omnipresent influence of his music.”
