I think saying The Clash ‘fell’ is up for debate but the band absolutely went through dramatic changes over the span of their existence.  From angry young men to political educators they evolved, and stumbled along the way.

Director Danny Garcia created a pretty nice hunk of eye candy.  There really is nothing more jaw dropping than the raw energy of early Clash.  Yes Topper was a junky, yes Mick has an ego, Yeah Paul was quiet and hell yea. Joe was a God.

But ‘years have passed and things have changed’ and everyone has something to say about it.  The Rise and Fall  takes a look at the life span of the only band that matters’ and within it shows footage to make you swoon.

Originally screened at the 2012 CBGB Festival, the movie will be released to DVD this spring.  I have not seen it and cannot wait to do so.  I’ll sob, no doubt but my hope is its edited properly.

Garcia told Rolling Stone, “I’ve been a Clash fan since I was nine or 10 years old. I fell in love with them since ‘Spanish Bombs. They were speaking in Spanish! And I felt like they were speaking to me. But why did they disband the way they did?”

Topper was out in ’82, Mick was out in ’83 and the entire shindig was over by ’86.  So as Mick and Topper schlep around reliving their Clash fame let us not forget that both of them were sacked by the bands leader, Joe Strummer.

The teaser is awesome- check it out.
