Sub titled "Prophetic Patience in Mecca; Resolve Without Revenge", this upcoming webinar ( a sassy way of saying seminar on the web) seems to be about as exciting as a fourth grade film strip. Those extremists will go insane with this one but then again so will I…why? Cuz Yusuf Islam is in on it, my dear boy the former Cat Stevens who should run for spiritual leader of mankind when he frees up some time. Lyrical genius with soft delivery converted to 'towel headed camel jockey terrorist' and suddenly red neck America had him detained delayed and deported and despised- for finding his own path.Beginning today, April 2nd a series of discussions on what simply boils down to 'how not to be an asshole' in conjunction with celebratemercy.com
Celebrate Mercy list their mission statement as:
"CelebrateMercy is a non-profit organization that aims to instill a deeper understanding of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) by teaching about his life and character. It also aims to respond to misinformation about him in a way that embodies his Prophetic Mercy. This mission is achieved through our interactive webcasts, website, and social media outlets, featuring videos of globally prominent scholars and performers."
Pretty straightforward stuff. The only thing that bothers me about this is the promotional material. Referencing Yusuf as Cat Stevens. Of course this is to capitalize on his fame and fans (like me!) but fans sure as hell know he is Yusuf. Regardless Islam has spoken on the White House lawn, on talk shows such as Stephen Colbert and is well informed and well spoken on the politics of life, equality, peace and his religion. A wonderful soft spoken yet powerful man his speeches are inspiring and though provoking, and you don't have to like "Peace Train" to appreciate it.
They say 'space is limited' but its a webinar so I am unsure what that means. It may be worth checking out if you're interested in saving this world and increasing your brain space for cultures you may not understand.
A rather sweet quote as 'testimonial' from the CelebrateMercy.com website:
As I went to sleep and put my head on my pillow last night, accounting for what I did yesterday, I thought to myself, even though I was so unproductive in terms of work, homework, and other errands that needed to be done, Allah will surely be pleased with me spending my time for His sake in remembrance of Him and His Prophet.
