I like the Black Lips and their catchy cheerful punk-garage-pop, but man, that video is really disgusting!! I need to warn you, there is a lot of puking, many buckets of pig blood poured all over naked bodies, gross male tongue action, orgy-like scenes, skinned animals and even a crucifixion with… more blood.
But I must admit, there is a sort of wild western imagery mixed with some sacrilegious symbolism with the cowboy hats, the feathers sticking on the bloody bodies, the weird violence and even some KKK-style execution hoods, that fit very well with the music.
The video was made for ‘Family Tree’, the first track from their very enjoyable ‘Arabia Mountain’ recorded with Amy Winehouse producer Mark Ronson.
