the new Marilyn Manson album and at an opening of an art exhibit

A little while ago, Helen wrote about Marilyn Manson’s new video/short film ‘Born Villain’, surprisingly directed by Shia LaBeouf, and this week the LAWeekly wrote about an exclusive and private listening of the whole new album at Studio Servitù, a new gallery downtown described as a ‘go-to location for mainstream and erotic photographers and filmmakers’, hosting gallery benefits and fetish events.

It is currently hosting New York artist Nick Kushner’s exhibit, ‘Les Crimes De L'Amour', which nourishes from the same macabre imagery than Manson’s world,… the guy looks like a Manson clone and is even using his own blood to paint his impressive ghoulish, morbid but beautifully done compositions.

At its opening on Saturday night, there was a screening of Manson’s short movie, a DJ set by Manson’s bandmate Twiggy Ramirez, and still according to the Weekly, Manson himself unveiled his new album which will be released next year.

Since I was not there, I will only copy what the LAWeekly says about the album:
‘Well, a lot of it is classic Manson: dark, sinister vocals over throbbing rhythms and heavy, thrashing guitars. The vocals are featured prominently, especially on the slower tempo grinds, though a couple had an almost EBM quality that will fit well on goth club dance floors. One track has a super catchy chorus that could do the K-ROQ rounds. We asked about titles, but Manson said ‘no names!’ We were asked to not reveal lyrics, either, but all you have to do is watch ‘Born Villain’ to get an idea of the themes and feel: arty, dramatic, salacious, depraved. You know, the usual.’

Yeah, the usual, but this gory-bloody-pervert-sadistic game never becomes the usual for me, what was ‘Born Villain’ about anyway? Man, that glass eye surgically inserted in the vagina was soooo disturbing.
