You have certainly heard this false rumor about Bon Jovi’ s death! The rocker tweeted a picture of him in front of a Christmas tree with a ‘Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey’ dated sign to prove he was still alive, but there is more to the story.
First of all it was presumptuous from the guy to think he would go to heaven once dead, but this is beyond the point…. The person, who is responsible for this bad hoax spoke out!
According to Asbury Park Press, musician Jeffrey Goho (more precisely he is the singer for the band Minutia) said he did it to protest Bon Jovi’s ‘publicized nonmusical activities’.
Goho was just unhappy that the rocker was all over the place except behind the mic, and decided to start the rumor on twitter, using a friend’s account. This is what he declared:
‘I’m in a band as well, and I was going into the recording studio, and we had talked about how the music industry just started taking a turn into crazy new worlds that no one, really, can assess. Long story short, I was talking to my band members on their down time, and we got so worked up in the conversation, I just kind of took the liberty and started (the rumor), because I was so irritated.’
‘All I heard was ‘Bon Jovi this,’ ‘Bon Jovi’s starting a restaurant.’ What was the latest one? The Advil commercial (featuring Bon Jovi)? It was like, ‘Jeez, (Bon Jovi) was a household name due to the music, not the business.’ So I’m not proud of it. I’m getting a lot of backlash from it, but as stupid as it sounds, that’s how it started. I just had a blurb and went with it.'
What was he thinking? And he is complaining about getting a lot of backlash! And he goes on, almost surprised he has received a lot of hate mail, but denying the accusation that all this was in fact a publicity stunt. After all who had heard about Minutia before this?
‘It wasn’t initially the case. Now, I’m not going to lie either, I’ve also gotten some fans out of this. That was unexpected. I mean, none of this was expected, so I’m not going to sit here and complain about it, but it wasn’t the initial reason. So with all the band, there’s a little good that came out of it, I guess, for publicity purposes, but it wasn’t my initial intention. I never really thought it would get out of Pennsylvania.’
Again, what was he thinking? His excuse does not make any sense. I am irritated, so let’s just kill Bon Jovi? Jealousy is the first thing that comes to mind as a motivation, but according to the kind of music his band plays – a sort of rock-trash-metal with raucous vocals and some Slayer-envy – Bon Jovi is not really a concurrent.
I have checked their facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/MinutiaMetal?sk=info#!/MinutiaMetal?sk=wall, and it is inundated by hatred messages of course…
But I wonder who look the most stupid in this story, Goho or all the media and people who believed the hoax and reposted or re-tweeted it?
