The Oscars are this Sunday, Hollywood is going crazy during that time with all these pre-Oscar parties and other festivities, and yesterday there was the Global Green Pre-Oscar Party at the Avalon, which benefits National green schools, Green affordable housing, Rebuilding New Orleans and Announcing the city carbon Index.
In the past, Leonardo DiCaprio, Penelope Cruz, James Cameron, Marissa Tomei, Salma Hayek, Jessica Alba, Kate Bosworth, Orlando Bloom, Adrian Grenier, Bill Maher, Rosario Dawson, Heather Graham, Christian Slater, Oliver Stone, have showed up to see Sheryl Crow, Gavin Rossdale, Maroon 5, Scott Weiland, Perry Farrell, Liz Phair, Michelle Branch, Damien Rice, Michael Franti, The Swell Season perform, but this year, green celebrities were entertained by Best Coast, Portugal. The Man and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
I have seen these three acts in the past, so not a bad line-up actually, Best Coast with her not-too-challenging lyrics on sweet 60s melodies (I wonder whether her boyfriend was there as they were playing together the following day at the Music Box), Portugal. The Man with their soaring sing-along choruses à la Beatles, and BRMC with their tough and noisy rock,… I saw them a long time ago, so I remember more about the black leather outfits than the music but they were rocking loud enough to be impressive.
Cameron and his wife were there again, making a presentation on environmental fashion, as well as other celebrities like Orlando Bloom, ‘Twilight’ star Maggie Grace, 2012’s Roland Emmerich (didn’t he already destroy the Earth a thousand times already?), Mad Man’s Alison Brie, and TV Black president Dennis Haysbert among others walked on the green carpet.
I supposed everyone showed up in hybrid cars, and were wearing organic clothing. Spinner is reporting that many people had already left the club when BRMC took the stage around midnight, yeah,… Hollywood people are old and have to go to bed early, it’s well known.
