'Come On, Be A No-One', the latest single set for release on 16th April on Wichita Records. You can hear it now on the band's soundcloud profile.
A fuzzy sort of song that combines that typical Brit based pop sound with a bit more flashy drum and guitar action. It's as if those instruments are the lead and singer…. is back up. A song that starts out quite typical and evolves into a rock tune.
Well tries. It has the right idea, it has the right segway but it falls rather short. The lyrical straining scream is uncomfortable and not powerful at all. Perhaps that the reserved Brit scream?
I have liked allot of The Cribs work- this unfortunately is not up to the bar they set for themselves. As a single it was a poor choice, I can't see this pulling anyone in at all. Its short its bland and the distortion isn't rich enough to make it interesting.
Let's hope the rest of the album gives us just a bit more.
