The ridiculously fun two-tone ska band The English Beat will be releasing a 5-disc box set titled The Complete Beat this summer. FIVE DISCS, can you even fathom that? Basically that's a heart attack in a box cuz you cant sit still when you listened to these guys, even if you were duct taped to a chair.
The set compiles the band's three studio albums– I Just Can't Stop It, Wha'ppen?, and Special Beat Service— with bonus tracks, as well as bonus material including live show recordings from Boston's Opera House, as well as remixes of the band's singles.
The set is due out on July 10th, 2012, with a greatest hits collection due out the same day. If you have not seen this band live find a date and go. This is one group of musicians whose talent just keeps going strong. We saw them last year and I was shocked at how true and powerful their energy is. C'mon aren't they supposed to be a bunch of geezers? Far from it, the show was intoxicating and I never left a show feeling more fired up.
This box set should be fantastic, grab it.
