The Beatles Live In 1963!!!

I read about this boot in the current issue of Rolling Stone, the one with Dylan on the cover, and it is everything they claim it is. Recorded in October 1963, live direct to radio from the Karpalan Studios in Stockholm.

And it is awesome. Nitpickers might claim that Lennon's  vocals on Smoley's "You've Really Got a Hold On Me" is much better. And they'd be right. But the "Roll Over Beethoven" here cuts the one you are familiar with., and "She Loves you" proves how well they can do it live. If this is teeny bopper rock, it is only true so far.

Here is the track list:

 I Saw Her Standing There

– From Me to You

– Money (That's What I Want)

– Roll Over Beethoven

– You Really Got a Hold On Me

– She Loves You

– Twist and Shout

Which makes the average length of a song… two minutes. They get in, they nail it, and they get out again. The purity of rock and roll and pop and swoon. The Ramones understood.

As for the sound! I don't see how much better it can be, crisp, clear, and Beatley!!!

Enjoy, with love from rock nyc to you:
