Terrible News: Bobby Womack Has Alzheimers

Despite not being  fan of last year's The Most Dangerous Man In The Universe, I am a huge Bobby Womack fan. Both as an r&B singer and maybe even more as a Gospel singer, I have admired 68 year old Womack since I realized he co-wrote "It's All Over Now". Among many achievements how about this early one: he was  Sam Cooke's guitarist.

The r&b giant has been performcing since 1954and while not always always hits he always brings it on home on stage and his recent collaboration with Daom Albarn (remember his work with Gorillaz? last time I saw Womack on stage…) he is as vital today as he ever has been.

According to Uncut Bobby Womack has said: "The doctor says there are signs of Alzheimer’s. It’s not bad yet but will get worse. "How can I not remember songs I wrote? It’s frustrating. I don't feel together yet. Negative things come in my mind and it's hard for me to remember sometimes. The most embarrassing thing is I’ll be ready to announce Damon and can’t remember his last name.”

what an awful way to begin 2013.
