Geezer Butler, the bassist for good for nothing devil worshipping corrupter of youth, Black Sabbath wants you to boycott fois gras manufacturer Fortnum & Mason. I am joking about the devil worship corrupter thing but I am pointing it out to make a point. So many say that rock and roll does so much in the name of rebellion and negativity. And 'legendary' bands certainly got the worse of it. I don't think Geezer ever a bit ahead off a bat though…
Foie Gras is one of the mosts repulsive edible things I have ever encountered. None has ever crossed my lips (nor will it ever!) Basically it is the liver of geese. Mmm! During foie gras production, huge amounts of grain are pumped into the stomachs of geese through metal pipes, which are rammed down their throats several times a day. Their distended livers ' which can swell to up to 10 times their normal size ' press against their lungs, causing them to pant constantly. Big livers equal big profits.
For the record the royal family has actually banned this product from their menus- that's quite thought provoking. It's THAT bad.
Back to Geezers plea:
"I've been a musician for most of my life, and I'm not afraid to make some noise, especially when it comes to issues of cruelty to animals", says Butler. "I'll therefore be urging my family, friends and fans to stay away from Fortnum's . until you stop selling that vile foie gras." He also asks Fortnum's boss, "[D]o you really want to give two fingers to British animal welfare laws by being one of the only remaining retailers to sell this 'torture in a tin'?"
Keep your plate peaceful- really its absurd not too.
