The UK Telegraph reported that Taylor Swift has been cast as singer/songwriter/legend Joni Mitchell in an upcoming film version of “Girls Like Us” We can’t even blame the Brits because Variety has confirmed it, the 22 year old Swift got the gig.
This isn’t a matter of the goody goody imaged pop star playing a hardcore folk hippy it more has to do with how the hell did Taylor Swift become an actress? Models turn actress, musicians turn actress, actress turned..musician and so it goes. What shocks me is why such completely different mediums seem to be ok transitions. I’m sure she’s a great actress to pull this off and it will offer some of her fans some exposure to the legend of Mitchell but it simply doesn’t sit right with me that she is acting at all. Let alone portraying someone with the urban legend of Joni Mitchell.
Think this may be a straight to DVD adventure- I can’t see it being taken seriously by Mitchell fans but then again stranger things have happened. There is not date offered on the start of filming of this project but don’t really hold your breath.
