Speak Now is Taylor Swifts worst album to date but what does that mean? Its best is as good as it gets, its second best is mediocre and here and there it kinda sucks.
Also, her charm is wearing thin. You can’t help but notice her handlers pulling her strings now and again. If she is really dating the 30 year old actor Jake Gyllenhaal, why is she writing seven minute tirades to the similarly aged John Mayer? Or at least, why isn’t she being quiet about it.
Having made both points clear, Billboard reports Taylor is on the way to selling 1M copies of her first album IN ITS FIRST WEEK. Those are truly incredible numbers and at the least a tribute to her savvy marketing and superior songs, staring with “Mine” and continuing “Speak Now”. A one, two, so powerful, it carried the weaker stuff like “Back In December” in its wake.
Having heard the album several times by now I can assure you nothing else is as good. But nothing else is as bad as “Better Than Revenge”
So her worst album will sell a million copies its first week. A “C” on a curve, a “B+ ” in the real world.
