I know, I know, I’m late to Hurray For The Riff Raff but I am making up ground! Superb at Summerstage on Sunday, I went back to the album Small Town Heroes and I could actually hear it! Otherwise, note the two mainstream pop songs in the middle there. Yeah, I know, I know but “Bang Bang” caught my ear.

Inside Out – Spoon – This is about as different as indie rock can get, the 4 on the floor beat is used for a strange deconstruction of an indie song which hums along like an wall of sound power point presentation – B+

Sure, we’re hoping he returns to the Allman’s brothers for their last concerts ever in October, but even if he is, Dickey Betts, the country blues founding member of the Southern Boogie Kings, is unmissable at the Concert Hall at the New York Society for Ethical Culture this Friday. A fabulous venue (though the seats suck) for what should be a stand out performance.

You should go to Festivals the same way you listen to music in 2014, sample all the goods and then research further. Even bands you really wanna see, headliners Outkast for instance, this might not be the best way to check em out. You’d have to give up too much and wait too long (I figure 90 minutes) to get really great sitelines. That would be, wow, at least four sets.
