Justin Townes Earle might not be the greatest songwriter in the world but he is certainly the most consistently excellent songwriter in 2014. From 2012 to 2014, Earle has written, recorded and released 20 perfect songs. Absolutely flawless jewels.
Justin Townes Earle’s Single Mothers towers above the week. A pathetic three star review in Rolling Stone and a general missing the point of perfection by everybody else, this is maybe the album of the year. It must be Top Five. What price doing the work of a lifetime and people not listening?

But my heart wouldn’t be in it, not when what Singles Mothers is is one perfect song after another. Justin is a musical genius, one of our greatest living songwriters and this is a great achievement.
