I have as many problems with the duo acceptance of the Oscar speech as I did about Marlon brando’s much braver refussal to accept an Oscar to condemn the US treatment of Native Americans. So if they give awards for acceptance speeches good for them, if they give it for songs , “Glory” stinks.
Last weekend, The Neon Brotherhood comprising of 40 fantastic musicians from Neon Sound Studios in Burntwood, who either knew Stephen, rehearsed with him, or were just simply inspired by him, came together to write and record a charity single in Stephen’s memory. Please support it and let’s get it to number one.

Rita deserves her # 1 position, she’s worked for it, it is a good song and it begins to make up for the double standard sexism that has gone along with the claims of promiscuity. After seven years in the wilderness, the not best song on Paramore does the trick and gets them back on the singles chart. A fun video helped no doubt. SOrt of pop punk meets pop dance and not a bad polace to put the band. The two Iggys are great… but you already knew that.

BUT coming up soon, as I predicted the minute it was released, Ed Sheeran’s “Sing” will be rocking the charts all summer. Be afraid.

Take a look at # 4, John Martin. An EDM songwriter from Sweden who has worked with the likes of Swedish House Mafia and Tinie Tempeh before hitting it big with SHM’s “Don’t You Worry Child”. Both “Child” and “Anywhere For You” are EDM by name, they sound like MOR 21st century style.
This is pretty damn lame, second lame chart from the UK, the singles was better though very EDM heavy, meanwhile the albums chart is moldy MOR headed by the Westlife guy Kian Egan.
In other news, I bet Larry Blackmon is a happy man, not only is there a cover of his biggest hit working its way up the charts, it is the sort of cover which can only make him look good!
How many times can I express my loathing for “Let It Go”, the standard formusical numbers is so low really ever since “Wicked” made the point and kept to it, that anything that rises from key to key to a full scale scream can be considered a power ballad, we have been heading for this place where everybody has given up on song for spectacle. An abominable, apocalyptic piece of crap.
The top four are exactly the same as last week, and the following six are minimal changes and NOTHING NEW made it on AND… Oh, I guess that’s all I got.Proof that the US Hot 100 is the most conservative and reactionary charts in the history of the world. FYI
John Legend performs the terrible drag of an “All Of Me” on the Grammy’s once and the next thing you know he has a top ten hits. Legend is Alicia Keys in male drag and he is just as boring a performer though not without a certain amount of charm, true. None of that charm is at work here. None of it.
So, the tour has begun, and while I won’t be catching Kanye West for another month it is never too soon to start checking out the dancecard, is it?
