They had a beachy-surfy explosive sound with tender moments going all doo-wop on you, and once again they were super retro, but they did it with a real freshness, turning punk fury into real sweetness.

Alyson has mentioned em a coupla times and I really like Gateway Drugs, I mean any band that calls one of its songs “Los Angeles Will Have Its Revenge On Francis Bean” and gets it to stick is sure worth anticipating.

Day three (and last day) at Echo Park Rising was concentrated inside the Echo /Echoplex. There was still a lot going on about everywhere, but there was already so much to see inside the two-level club, and the twelve or so bands that I saw there kept me very busy.
