Angel made the audience her posse and she used them to push herself harder and yet never coming close to chaos, it was controlled happiness
The sold out SOBs was the place to be last night, let sadness wait for another time because Angel Haze took us to the place where the wolves howl.
A Monday but it starts at 8pm with a 10pm follow up and Angel Haze’s new album Back To The Woods is excellent and good enough reason as well check out the first rate rapper at SOBS.
The Wolves – Angel Haze – Hell man, that is some track you got there Angel, it is so fresh I expect to be hearing it again from time to time. Like tomorrow. And where is that flute from? Is it a sample? Great song by the way, the howl is fabulous – A
Numb – Nick Jonas and Angel Haze – At the start of the year, Angel Haze released a terrific album and the good will does her well on this state of the art dance track by the former teen idol, trying to revive his career with this tight beats heavy dance track – B
Not a bad week and if we have many more albums as good as Adventures In Bluesland and Post Tropical, it might end up being a very very good year. If you include the yet to be released Half-Life and last years Bernie Worrell and Angel Haze it is absolutely a better year than last year.
I was expecting something way out there, but for all her poetics and rage against the terrible childhood: this is mainstream hip hop and a little better with a good rapper and singer and a sometimes excellent lyricist.
John Newman I am very ecited to be seeing on Thursday (and the album is dropping Stateside this month), and Bernie Worrell was new to me but not the rest of the world. But new to everybody is Angel Haze’s excellent new album, a pop triumph that might actually break pop.
I Don’t Eat Animals – Melanie Safka – This is the “Brand New Key” chick all grown up, and with the same strange voice somewhere between nursery rhyme and razorblade; no wonder Moz loves her – B
New York – Angel Haze – the final release of 2013, after poet cum rapper got sick of waiting for Interscope to release , I’m considering 2014 so I can include it in my 2014 brain. This is a reggae beat ode and very very good – B+
