NEW YORK, NY — Thursday, September 24, 2026 — Swedish-Iranian singer, songwriter, and author Jasmine Kara brings her powerhouse blend of soul, blues, and pop to the Triad Theater tonight as part of FENIX Rising, the acclaimed live music showcase series from FENIX360. The evening returns the series to the Upper West Side venue at 158 West 72nd Street, where Kara joins a lineup that includes AMH, Lawrence Cooley, and Amanda Ayala.
For Kara, a New York stage carries special meaning. At just 18, she came to the city on her own as a subway and street performer, knocking on record label doors in pursuit of a deal. She went on to build a remarkable career largely as an independent artist, without a label, management, or a touring agent behind her, and tonight marks a full-circle return to the city where that journey began.
Born in Örebro, Sweden, to an Iranian father and a Swedish mother, Kara broke through in the summer of 2010 with her debut album, Blues Ain’t Nothing But a Good Woman Gone Bad, a showcase for her raw vocal power and deep love of vintage blues and soul. That same summer she sang on Allsång på Skansen and performed at a concert held in connection with the royal wedding of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. She has since earned P3 Gold nominations, performed at the Swedish Grammy Awards, competed in Melodifestivalen 2017 with her dance-pop single “Gravity,” and appeared on many of Sweden’s biggest television programs, including Let’s Dance on TV4.

Her reach extends far beyond Scandinavia. Kara has toured Sweden, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and has built a devoted following in the Persian music world through appearances on Manoto TV and MBC Persia, releasing music in English, Persian, and Spanish. Behind the scenes, she has also found success as a songwriter, with credits on chart-topping K-pop releases by WayV and SuperM. She records on her own label, Karasmatic Music, and is also a published author.
FENIX Rising was created to give independent artists a curated, professional platform in front of live audiences, and has presented showcases at venues including The Bitter End, Groove, and The Pheasantry in London. The series has received recognition from the World Entertainment Awards and the BroadwayWorld Awards. Tonight’s performance at the Triad offers audiences a rare chance to experience Jasmine Kara’s commanding voice up close in one of Manhattan’s most intimate rooms.
